Oh yeah!! We had fried green tomatoes last night!! YUMMY!!!!
Hi Sue, when are they going to get ripe? Mine are just setting there, green as grass. Marnie
Sue, They are monsters! Mine are gumball sized. Rosey
The Wordless Wednesday Word is "Wow!" ;-)
Picture-perfect pleasingly-plump tomatoes!
Colorless tomatoes... is there anything that incites more anticipation? It won't be long now before your labor will pay off.
Not long and they'll be ready!
Sue, looking good! I agree with Darla that one or 2 could be eaten now fried. :)
I've never had fried green tomatoes, although they are a Southern delicacy. Hubby just made a Greek tomato sauce with the ripe tomatoes we've had so far, and I plan on making salsa. Salsa made with black Russian tomatoes is the best!
Thanks for the fun and encouraging comments. I have only made fried green tomatoes a few times, and it was in the fall, when frost was threatening. I don't think I could bring myself to pick green ones in the summer. You never know which ones are going to ripen first, and I'd hate it to be one of those I picked. The 6 year old boy across the street and I garden on Wednesday nights. Last night, he had fun looking at the plants, seeing what all was on them. He counted 10 tomatoes on 1 of the plants.
