Really Late for the Sky

I recently started posting for SkyWatch on my other blog, Keeping My Branch Connected to the Vine. This morning, I was remembering I didn't do a post yesterday, when it turned Friday other places in the world, so I found a photo to post before going to work. After work, I remembered to put a link to my post, but accidentally put the link to this blog. I found a photo I took a few weeks ago with my iphone, in case anyone is still looking at the links page, so they won't wonder why I put a link to my blog and no sky photo.

This building is a quilt museum that was built in the last year or two. I'll have to post a photo of the grounds this summer. They planted it in a sort of quilt pattern last summer, and it grew pretty well. You can tell this was taken before the snow. I like the blue sky.

Added later in the evening: Someone asked me the name of the museum. It's the International Quilt Study Center & Museum. I put a link to their website for those interested. It's kind of a cool building, but I was surprised when I saw it being built, since it looks so modern, and the quilts in it are homey and mostly old. It's across the street from the east campus of UNL, where mostly agriculture and family and consumer science classes are taught. I haven't been there yet, but hope to at some point.

SkyWatch Friday 7/31/09

I put several hundred photos from my iphone into my iPhoto library today. Some of them were of the sky.

The first 3 were taken June 23rd, from my church, where I was helping with some gardening. It's hard to see, but there were about 6 guys working on the roof. (If you click to enlarge the photo, you can see a couple of them.)

I can't believe how quickly this week has gone! Happy SWF, and have a great weekend! Click on the SkyWatch icon in the sidebar to see skies from all over the world, and find out how to show yours.

(I have been neglecting my other blog, so I put a SkyWatch post there. I may just do it there next time, so I won't have more than one post on the same day here.)

A Cloudy Day SkyWatch, 7/16/09

No, not this one, this is from July 7th.

Around 8:00 this morning, walking home from my garden across the street:

It was raining a little after 10:00 a.m. after I got home from errands,
which included buying plants that were on sale:

Around noon, I went out looking for some sky without clouds, or with clouds you could see. I took this to show that yesterday, when I went to unwrap some of the cypress vine from the rattlesnake master, I ended up taking it all off. Maybe some will head back that way.

Well, there is the sun!

SkyWatch Friday, at the Cemetery a Few Blocks Away

On June 24th, I walked over to the cemetery that is a block away from our house, and across the street from the television station I posted for SkyWatch recently. I wanted to catch the sunrise. I was realizing when exporting photos, that I didn't go where the old grave markers are. There are some beautiful ones, so I'll have to go back another time.

Facing east:

Facing south:

Facing north:

Facing west:

Facing west, on the way home. You can see the television sign on the right:

Facing northwest, a look at my house from farther away than usual, and a fuller view of the maple tree in front:

I can't remember if it rained that morning, but the clouds were sure majestic! To see more skies from all over the world, or to find out how to participate, click on the SkyWatch icon in my sidebar.

Downtown Farmer's Market for SkyWatch

I can't remember who is having a Farmer's Market meme, so please let me know if you know who it is. I decided to combine it with my SkyWatch post. (Click here to see more skies from all over the world, or find out the rules for posting yours.

This is facing west. The market is at the end of the block. I wanted to include the flags since it's almost Independence Day.

This is my husband, Larry, and our grandson, who enjoyed his first visit to the farmer's market.

The man on the right sells catfish and trout that he raises.

Next is the place where there are long lines when they bring their corn, which should be soon.

The woman on the right is the market director, the one who blows a whistle at 8:00 a.m. when the sellers can start taking money.

This is a much larger market than the Thursday one I posted on. These vendors are to the west of the previous ones.

Going back east, facing south, you can see the block long row of vendors, some in the street, others on the sidewalk. There is another row of vendors next to the ones on the left.

I had to turn around to the north and take a picture of the sky.

I buy a lot from this family. They are on the south end, and we are about to go around the loop.

Heading back north, this row is on the other side of the one we just passed.

There are some vendors on the sidewalk on this side, too.

These plants are from a nearby town's garden center.

This is where the longest line usually is, as they use organic methods, and their salad mixes are popular.

We get some ostrich meat once in awhile.

There are lots of things one can buy at the market.

Turning around to the south, you can see the string trio playing under the green awning.

We just walked south to the end of the block, turned the corner to the east, and there are more vendors on each side of the street.

Continuing east:

We got to the end of the block, and are now facing north, where you can see even more vendors! Some years they don't use this space, but usually they do. There is only one row of vendors here.

Our last stop each week, to the east, is The Mill, where I've posted from before, where we get granitas or coffee to take home to enjoy on our deck with the muffins we buy at the farmer's market.

Keaton thought it was all pretty cool, and Heidi was hoping to catch crumbs.

The sky was prettier than the last time I took my camera, when they were grey in every direction. See? (This is another family I buy from frequently.)
