Flaunt your Flowers/Fertilizer Friday

I am having a very busy week, and am not able to do much gardening, but I have been enjoying my yard walks, and taking photos.  I've mentioned some flowers are finished for the season, but new ones are opening daily.

I was only going to post a few this evening, but I found so many new ones blooming, I ended up exporting more than I planned to.  Oh, well, I took a nap after work.  LOL

Starting with the front yard, this iris, one that our daughter-in-law gave us last summer, sure has pretty blooms!  (The first 2 photos are near the curb.)

The Jupiter's beard is loaded with buds.  They are colorful already.

The next photos were taken in the front bed with the black fence.  There were all kinds of wonderful scents this evening.  The dianthus, iris, and stocks are all fragrant blooms.

For some reason, I had this silver leaved dianthus in the middle of one of the flower beds.  I divided it early this spring, and put the clumps near each other by the edge.  One is struggling, but this one is full of buds, several of which have opened.

The stock plants I bought came with 2 plants in each spot.  Since it's a mix, they are all different colors.  I was going to cut out the ones I decided not to keep, but they are all so pretty, I think I'm going to try to cut them out and replant them.  The blooms on the left were the reason I picked the ones I did, because I loved that color, but now that the other plant's blooms are open, I like them even better.

These are the other reblooming iris in the bed with the yellow ones.  There is a blue tinge to them that isn't noticeable from the photos.

Walking around to the east side of the house, I saw my first daylily of the season!  Most won't open until July.  This is a passalong plant I've had a number of years.  It's supposed to be a rebloomer, but I seem to cut off the stems that have the new buds on them, thinking they are faded blooms.

The baptisias are starting to show color.

The catmint blooms are opening, too.

Say hello, to my first open amsonia bloom of the season!

The pretty short blue iris that I'd rescued are almost finished blooming, but their friends who came with them are ready for their turn brightening up the curb area in front of the veggie garden.  When the irs are all finished, the daylilies who also came with them will have their turns.  I love the dark color of these.  They look almost black in person.

Isn't this a beauty?

As I went back to the front to go in the house, I noticed the pink sweet rocket I got from my sister's yard a few years ago is blooming.

To see more Friday blooms or see how to post yours, go to Tootsie's blog by clicking on the Fertizer Friday/Flaunt your Flowers button in my sidebar.  I fertilized with Coop Poop this spring.  I need to turn my compost so I can put some of that around.  (You don't have to talk about whether you fertilize or not if you want to post, but put a link to Tootsie's blog if you participate.)

  7. That 1st Iris is just stunning! My plain purple bearded Iris is just finishing up, but I'm waiting for a special one to start blooming. Your Baptisia looks further along than mine, which is just starting to show color in the buds.
