Friday Blooms

I am so thrilled that it's spring, and we are supposed to get above 70 degrees the next few days, with lows only getting down to the 40s and 50s.  I plan to put my rosemary and a few other plants outside this weekend.  I always think I'm going to start them out a few hours a day to harden them off, but don't always get that done.  I do avoid direct sun at first, though.

I imagine I won't be able to post almost every bloom I have every week, but want to post most of them now, as I am so excited to see them.  Tootsie, at Tootsie Time says we don't have to fertilize in order to participate in Fertilizer Fridays.  I am inconsistent about fertilizing, preferring organic ones, but I don't always do more than apply compost.  I have some coop poop that I bought to start asparagus, so I'm thinking about putting some of that around my plants this weekend.

The hellebores are still growing and blooming.  I love each one.

Above, the bergenia buds are opening.  The plant below, I think I've named before, but the name isn't coming to me right now.  It seems like last year, it developed different colors on the blooms.  I like it this color.

These violas were blooming when I bought them.

Here is my first pansy to bloom.

The name of this hyacinth is in my iphoto, which is not plugged in right now.  I'll come back to post the name.  I still have the tag because I just planted it last year.  I don't have the tag for the pink ones.

I think I've mentioned I had to dig out and replant the grape hyacinths last year when they resurfaced our street last summer.  It didn't seem to phase them.

I've had this tulip a few years.  I don't know why it's the only one I have like it.

The daffodils are still blooming.

These just opened today.

I want to find out if Scilla Siberias spread in the garden.  I want to plant some in other spots.  I sure like them.  I'd never grown them before planting them in the fall.

Aren't they pretty?

The chiondoxas are almost finished.  This was their second year here.

The hellebore, 'Silver Lace' is still looking good on the east side of the house.

A friend gave me some Virginia blue bells last spring, and they did not bloom.  I didn't think they even made it, but they apparently went dormant.  I am pleased they are about to bloom.  I have a foxglove within 6 inches of them.  I don't want to move either, so I'm hoping by the time the foxglove gets large enough to bloom, these will be finished.

A few years ago, a couple friends gave me these and another clump of tulips that aren't open yet.  They will be soon.  Soon, lots of things will be busting out into blooms.

Some of you are near summer, and others still experiencing colder temps than ours.  Some in other parts of the world, are even approaching winter.  It's fun to see what's going on in other places of the blogging world.

Wildflower Wednesday

I've noticed that Gail, from Clay and Limestone, hosts Wildflower Wednesday.  (I am so scatterbrained!  It's the 4th Wednesday of the month.  Well, by then, I'll have different ones blooming, so I am going to go ahead and post this.)  I sometimes forget which of my plants are wildflowers, which are natives, and such.  I do remember seeing pasque flowers on a wildflower list, and Googled them just to be sure.  I tried to find a list of spring blooming wildflowers in Nebraska, but the few plants I found, I don't have.  I have spiderworts coming up, but since I have 3 different colors, I wonder if they are all considered wildflowers still.

Even my pasque flowers are not the same as each other.  I have enjoyed some from a former co-worker of my husband's, (I think), and last year, I purchased a couple more from a company in our state that sells a lot of native plants.  The blooms on the new ones look to be larger and more downward facing than the other ones I have.  Hmm, are both considered wildflowers?

First, I'll post photos from today of the ones I've had awhile, and already posted some photos of.

The new ones:

Head on over to Gail's and see what kind of wildflowers she has blooming, and join in if you have some wildflowers.  (Do that on the 4th Wednesday of the month.  In the meantime, go ahead and check out to see what else is going on on her awesome property.)

Happy Easter Blooms

I wrote a post about anticipation on my Branches blog.  In it, I put some before and after photos of the kitchen.  I didn't do a post of them together here.  Also, the after photos were taken after some pictures were added to the walls, and haven't been posted here.  If you are interested in seeing those, click here.

My goodness, I have been having difficulties posting.  This evening, the photo button didn't show up in Safari, so I came to Firefox to post.  Now, here, I can't get the cursor to go between the photos.  I'll just list them here.

Scilla Siberica, 5 photos of hellebores from the front of the house, almost blooming bergenia, hyacinth, pasque flower, and 2 photos of hellebore, 'Silver Lace' are here.

Oh, the last photo shows the grape hyacinths that I had to dig out and replant due to the street being resurfaced.  The blooms just came up enough to show their blue today.

Have a great day tomorrow, and I hope you are able to be outside some of the day.
