Daffodils

This post is to remind me why I grow daffodils when I'm tired of waiting for the leaves to die back.  The first ones to bloom are finished, and there is one clump not blooming yet.  Some of these are in my collages, but the pics are from today.  I've shown each from the clump, then closer.  I wish I knew their names, but haven't kept good records.

  1. Hi Sue~~ I LOVE your photos. Who knew there were so many nuances to a simple yet lovely flower? I look forward to seeing these borders as more works of art pop up!

  5. Hi! I love your daffodils! Once the daffs are bloomed out and those strappy messy leaves remain for what seems like forever...we do need reminders of why we planted them! Thank you for the reminder of their beauty! Yours are beautiful! I've started moving the like ones all together and in a few spots...to get them out of the smaller beds where they crowded the little wildflowers.
I hope they bloom next year! Have a good day Sue! Gail

  9. I love your daffodils, they do go through sort of an awkward phase as they are finished blooming, but you need to leave their foliage. Mine are pretty much finished now.

  10. Pretty Daffs! These photos are a great reminder of why we plant them each fall. :) It's all worth it come spring when they bless us with their pretty blooms.

  11. Yes, I'm with the rest of you...daffodils seem so ho-hum in the fall, and so full of the onrush of life in spring, with their little trumpets. My addiction to tulips makes it hard to get more narcissus, but I have early, mid, and late ones so at least I have them througout.

Love the galvanized pansy planters! I'm not familiar with the square tubs.

  15. These are lovely. That last one looks almost like a Pheasant's Eye narcissus, but the yellow bit (perianth?) isn't small enough. Your daffodils look particularly good against that white wrought iron fence/gate.

  18. You do have a lot of beauiful daffodils - I especially like the one in the last photo, the orange center is so wonderfully ruffled.

  23. Thanks for all the comments and information. I am still in the process of visiting all your blogs.

Pamela, I wasn't able to get to your profile, I think, because it is private. Do you have a blog?

    Happy spring!
