Low this Morning in the Twenties, High in the Fifties

I was getting this ready for Wordless Wednesday, but also had a different one that I was going to save for next week. It occurred to me that I can go ahead and post this today, and the other one tomorrow. Besides, now I can use words. LOL

The forecast was for the temperature to get down into the lower thirties this morning, but at the airport it was 24, and at the TV studio a couple blocks away, it was 26 when I left for work. On the radio, they said it was the first time for it to get this cold. I thought there was a night it got lower, but it must not have. I took a few photos before I left for work.

These are some that I took after work. I was relieved that most plants were still doing OK so far. I was especially glad that the lettuce survived. (I didn't get all the plants that had frost on them in the second bunch, and didn't try to put them in the same order.)

The temps are supposed to get a little warmer each day this week, until the highs get into the sixties again by the weekend. I better harvest the lettuce and finish the clean up across the street. I hope you are enjoying fall.

  2. Brrr, sounds to me like weather that should be reserved for February.

Sue, I don't know anybody who can make the best of rough weather the way you can.

Two overcast days in a row and I'm ready to head south.

  5. Beautiful photos of the frost! And to think it was in the high 80s here today in Southern California. I think I'd prefer the frost.

  6. The frost on the plants makes for pretty pictures. You took some beauties.
The Alyssum, Homestead Purple Verbena and Black-eyed Susans hold up well in the cold temps, don't they?
We had a very heavy frost yesterday morning. It was beautiful, and then the day turned out to be very sunny and mild. Colder again today though, unfortunately. 30ยบ is our predicted low tonight. It's brisk out there! Stay warm.

  15. It's amazing how resilient some plants are. Your frost photos are lovely. It strikes me as odd that this is your first freeze of the season, yet I've had several already. I ask you, is that fair?
