Cardinal on a cloudy day:
Here's a katydid on a day lily. I have seen them before, and leave them there, as the flowers only last a day anyway. I leave most insects alone, but if I come across a slug or snail, I put it near the bird bath or in the street so the birds can find it to eat.
I saw this spider this morning. I like the "stitching" up the middle of the web.
Click on the Camera Critter icon in the sidebar to see more critter posts or to put a link to your post. I haven't decided yet if I'm going to put my link up this time. I am behind in everything I do right now.
I don't bother most of the insects either. I believe you have a Zipper Spider here.
ReplyDeleteI like most of the insect in the garden too. Like you, I place snails where the birds will find them.
ReplyDeleteI always liked Katydids. They seem less destructive than grasshoppers, and they sing much better.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful cardinal and great finds with the other insects!
ReplyDeleteI had to look twice for the katydid, good hider, that one.
ReplyDeleteI miss Cardinals! An old friend of mine called it the lipstick bird.

Nice shots Sue! What a pretty spider, and very interesting web. I'll bet lots of bugs get caught in that zipper!
ReplyDeleteCute katydid! Nice shot of the striped spider and web! And cardinals are one of my favorite birds--don't have any here so I have to enjoy them via photos like yours.
ReplyDeleteI am not a fan of bugs or other yuckky creatures like them, but it is a nice spider photo. :)
ReplyDeleteHappy Camera Citters Day!
Hi Sue, glad to know you:)! I found the oddest looking bug this morning in the garden..it had wings but a huge body with a square green head! The only critters I have to pick off are beetles..uck, uck! That's a pretty lavender daylily. I've enjoyed looking at some of your sky watch posts. Thanks for visiting me!

Okay, Sue. You win the grand prize for being the kindest person ever to slugs. I can just see you moving them around so birds can find them. On behalf of all the birds in your neighborhood, I thank you. Cute post.
ReplyDeleteSue- Love the critter shots. I can totally relate with being behind on everything. I always seem to be behind too. Maybe I should try to slow down sometime...
ReplyDeleteI've just recently been dealing with what I think are Japanese Beetles who are eating the leaves on my green beans. So far I've been plucking and putting them in soapy water. We'll see what tomorrow brings.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the comments. I think I got all your blogs visited!
ReplyDeleteWe used to call them writing spiders, like Charlotte in Charlotte's Web.
ReplyDeleteI try to leave the bugs alone too. Except the bad ones;)

Excellent critter photos. I think I´ve never seen such kind of stitching in the spider web.
ReplyDeleteAnd you´ve got wonderful day lilies:-)
