A Squirrel, lots of birds, and some Insects

Thursday, when I went out to see what critters were around, I heard lots of birds, but I saw the squirrel scampering so cutely across the street first.

It was fun watching the birds fly here and there on their way south.

I don't remember seeing insects Thursday. It was cool and cloudy. It was still cool today, (Friday) but the sun was out. When I came home, I noticed some butterflies or skippers, but by the time I made it outside, there were no more butterflies that I could see. I'm not sure whether this is a bee, wasp, or something else on the Mexican sunflower. Do you know?

I was glad to see the bumblebees back out today. They let me get quite close.

Do you know what this is on the moonflower?

The bees were back on the goldenrods today, too.

There were several flies on the shed today, but this is the only one that stayed still for me.

I didn't see the beetle on the aster until I was editing the photos.

Is this a shield bug of some kind? It kept playing hide and seek with me.

  1. Sue,
Just lately I have had a squirrel tearing things up in the yard.
I like those bug shots, all the bees and flies are hiding today, we are getting snow here.

  2. Hi Sue,
We get huge flocks of grackles here in winter. It's a wondrous thing to see them swirling up out of the fields and flying to their night perches.

  3. Super shots of the insects Sue. They are most wonderful.

  4. Wow, that was a big flock of birds going over. Snow already, gee can't it wait for awhile. I am not ready for snow. Great photos of all the birds, bees and blooms.
