SkyWatch Friday 2/27/09

These pis of the sky above the garage were taken February 23, the day I planted my gamble garden. The weather vane was put there by my late father-in-law in the early to mid 1980s, replacing one that had already been there. I hope to get the details of the eagle some time when the lighting is different or I learn how to use my camera settings.

Happy SWF, and go see more skies from all over the world by clicking here, or the icon in the sidebar.  Thanks sponsors!

  1. Hello Sue,
Wonderful set of photos. The clouds look like a pond-surface when a rock is thrown there and the wavelets appear.
I also like the silhouette of the weather vane. I love these things, they are beautiful. Great captures!
Happy skywatching and have a nice weekend.

  2. Bonsoir Sue,
I'm happy you've zoomed on the vane. These details give character to one's house. I love watching them.
An eagle is original. Haven't seen one like that before. In France, it's the common rooster, Maybe because it's our emblem ?!!

  4. It is a very nice weathervane. And especially so with the history of it. I've always wanted a house with one on top of it. Looks a bit dreary on the sky front, the same here.

  9. The clouds are a combination of cotton balls and a fluffy blanket...a fluffy blanket of cotton balls. I love weather vanes. Great picture.

  10. I do like your eagle - what a beautiful design. Was it commissioned especially? For some reason the ripples of the clouds made me think immediately of the ripples that form when you push your finger along the little pool of jam that you put in a saucer to test for it setting. Not very poetic, I know!

And I must get my fire hydrants sorted - thanks for the reminder.

  12. I like your pictures, I also like how you politely declined awards,I've been trying to find a way to do that myself without hurting anyones feeling, I saw a button on a blog that said award free blog, but can't remember where I saw it and have not run across it again. I love you heading picture!
