I was tickled when I was able to harvest salad greens and kale in December, and ate some almost daily for awhile. I got busy, and haven't had any this past week. Today, I thought I better be eating it before it goes bad. I've had them in my Tupperware veggie keeper. I wonder if they would have kept as well in my vegetable drawer. I'll have to experiment sometime.
As Larry and I were eating lunch, I told him not only did I harvest later than ever before, but eating from the garden on January first is amazing! It is especially cool in that we have have a couple feet of snow plus higher drifts from the two snowstorms that recently came our way.
Ashley is still in the process of packing the rest of her things, and we will help her some more on Sunday.
Again, Happy New Year!
Who would have thought a plate of salad greens and kale could look so pretty.
ReplyDeleteYou're eating healthier than I am. I just had a piece of rhubarb pie.

A very Happy New Year to you!!! SO thankful I found you in 2009!
ReplyDeleteHi Sue~~ Your plate of beautiful greens looks like it belongs in a five-star restaurant. Eating produce from the garden is indeed pretty uncommon in January. I think your thumb became a richer green in 2009. Happy New Year.
ReplyDeleteA nice healthy plate to greens, wonderful and as you so rightly say 'especially at this time of year.....
ReplyDeleteHope Ashley enjoys her new home and happy New Year to you and yours......
Your greens look yummy. We have mesclun growing in a pot outside that withstands the cold. Good luck to your daughter with her new apartment. It looks spacious.
ReplyDeleteStill having veggie envy here!! It looks delish!!! I know all of you will be happy when Ashley is all settled in, good luck to her.

ReplyDeleteLovely picture of fresh greens. 365 days gardening season is my goal. You have already achieved it.
