February Bloom Day

I am excited to report a few outdoor blooms for this month's bloom day!  This little clump of crocus is in the planter on the south side of the house.

These daffodils are also on the south side of the house.  There are a couple buds on the clump.

I still have some yard art blooms, and as you can see, the snow is not all melted.

There are only a few indoor blooms.  I was surprised by these kalanchoe blooms while watering plants a few days ago.   I pulled some of the dried up leaves before taking the photo.

I'm not sure if it was our daughter or me who got this little cactus pot for Larry.  This one has been blooming off and on for a few weeks.

There are a few holiday cactus blooms still coming on to finish up this season's round of blooms.

Begonias are inconsistent bloomers for me in the house, but when they do, I sure enjoy the pretty, petite blooms.

Of course, I still enjoy the dried flowers year-round.   Strawflowers keep their colors well.

I am having fun seeing spring unfold on other blogs.  The hellebores are quite lovely, and I am hoping mine do well this spring.  I am looking forward to seeing what is blooming this month your way.  Find other blooms or join in at Carol's May Dreams Gardens.

  6. Beautiful touch of spring. I'm surprised you still have snow --better get rid of it fast-we're heading thru in 2 short weeks, and I always LOVE reaching the NE border and seeing NO SNOW and bright sunny skies.

    1. Hi Sue, I was just at your blog, but couldn't find a link to leave comments there. Our highs for the next 5 days are forecast to be above 40, so the snow should be melted when you get to Nebraska. I forgot where your grandchid(ren?) live. Are they in Nebraska, too? I still haven't heard anything about how the cranes are faring. You'll have to keep us posted. Every year, I think about trying to get there. This won't be the year, because we have too many unexpected expenses, including a huge chunk for income tax.

  7. Wow - crocus already! My image of Nebraska was that you would be dealing with snow till the end of March like us.

  9. Lovely outdoor and indoor blooms Sue! I love the delicate color of your kalanchoe blooms. We have some dragonwing begonias blooming indoors here too. No outdoor blooms here yet, thought daffodil and snowdrop foliage is emerging. Happy Bloom Day!

  10. Amazed you found some blooms with all that snow. We don't have as much here in southern Wisconsin but we don't have any bulbs coming up either. Can't wait for that to happen!

  14. How nice to see the crocuses and budding daffodils in spite of the return of winter! Beautiful photos of the snow on your last post, Sue--it's funny, because that was such a warm weekend here that I actually had crocuses blooming then, too. But it turned to winter the very next day:) Ah well, we know spring can't be far away--Happy Bloom Day!

  17. Hello, I think your crocus has a brother or sister in my garden, here in London, looking identical and in flower! Aren’t they cute, at this time of year? We have had really cold weather the last 3 weeks, well into minus, and as cold as minus 6 several nights, which is unusual for London. Spring is on hold at the moment! Loved your cactus :-)

  21. Dried flowers never fail to please, right? When I saw your header photo, I thought you were going to say everything was under snow. Love the Crocuses! I'm sure I have Hellebores and Crocuses ready under the mulch, but I don't want to clear it away yet--while there's still a chance for a deep freeze.

  25. How exciting to have crocus in bloom already, spring is coming early this year! I still have violas and pansies in bloom, due to our mild winter, but I'm looking forward to crocus and hellebore before too long.
