I am a day late for February's Garden Bloggers' Bloom Day, hosted by Carol, of May Dreams Gardens. We are now enjoying unseasonably warm temps, and if all the snow isn't melted yet, it should be in the next day or two. I have been looking for bulbs popping up through the leaves, but so far, have only seen the drumstick alliums that were already green in the fall. I did see a couple nigella plants. I am hoping to see hellebore buds soon.
I didn't think I was going to have any blooms at all for this month, but Larry bought me this Parade Rose plant for Valentine's Day. It says, "Perfection by Poulsen" on the tag. I'll put it in a larger pot and put it outside when it's warmer out.
'Naomi' holiday cactus surprised me with a bloom. I thought it was finished for awhile. It did have another flush of blooms about a year ago, but I didn't get it deadheaded this winter, so I didn't think it would.
I thought the rosemary plant was finished blooming, too, but upon getting closer, saw a bloom. (Can you tell I was a bit desperate?
Encouraged by finding a few blooms, I looked closer at some other plants, and found a few oxalis blooms.
I have such a bad memory, that I can't remember if I ever knew the name of this succulent.
The above "blooms" are from the plant with the narrow leaves in the closest pot. They are hard to see. Maybe I'll get a foliage follow up post done, and take a better photo of it.
I am home trying to figure out if it's a cold I have, or if the flu is coming on. I dozed while the photos were uploading, and think I'll camp out on the chair for awhile. When I wake up, I'll try to visit some other gardens to see what's blooming.

Hope you aren't catching the flu. You found a lot of things coming up from the snowy ground. Have a nice day.
ReplyDeleteAny blooms are good blooms this time of year and enjoyed seeing what you found. Me? Still got zero blooms. C'mon already spring!
ReplyDeleteOh, I'm sorry to hear you're feeling below par, Sue! Hope whatever it is clears up soon!
ReplyDeleteYour pictures are lovely! And your red Valentine's rose is ever so pretty. Hope it brings you much joy for many years to come.
You did great locating some blooms.....nix the thought of the flu!!!!!! Hope you feel better fast...~~!
ReplyDeleteOh, it's rotten to be sick just when everything is starting to wake up for Spring! Hope you feel better! Love your Christmas cactus.
ReplyDeleteSeems the flu bug is out and about. My neighbor's two teens were out of school for a week...then she got it. They have not been in my house and I will hide if they drive up!
ReplyDeleteHope you are better soon.
The rose is gorgeous.
No blooms here at all.
You're very stalwart keeping going with finding blooms even in the middle of winter! I hope you manage to ward off the flu. Take some nasty-tasing herbal medicine - the worse the taste the better the effect!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful rose!
ReplyDeleteAs I said in my other comment, I hope you feel better soon.
