Harvesting Sweet Potatoes, Tomatoes, and a Couple Peppers for Wordless Wednesday
I haven't participated in Wordless Wednesday for awhile, and even then, did not link in, because I wasn't sure who the host was, and even though I discovered it awhile back, don't remember now. Oops! I just wrote some words!
This has a huge smile on my face. To see the three of you gardening together is wonderful. Your little helper is having a blast, and great memories are being made.
Oh....the photo of him with his hands in the dirt digging for potatoes is priceless. You are creating wonderful memories that he'll carry with him forever.
You have some really good help, I love to have children in the garden. One day I was picking radishes with a boy across the street and we each would exclaim,"Look at this one",with each large radish. He turned and pulled a brocolli and exclaimed,"Look at this one." Couldn't get mad with the funny thoughts how he maybe thought we were getting the biggest plant.Like the next to last shot, I encouraged my kids to get into the dirt.
Dear Sue, That is an impressive harvest for the time of year ... mine is really winding down and I have only carrots, parsnips, onions and some herbs left. I think gardening is doubly wonderful with the help of a grandchild. Yours is adorable! The pictures made my day. Pam x
I love that shot of your grandson on his tummy, digging in the dirt with his hands, and the one showing his sweet potato harvest on a small shovel. Those are so cute, making gardening memories.
I loved digging potatoes with my grandmother back when I was kid and still remember the joy of finding THE BIG ONE. I LOVE your foliage follow-up post. Such beautiful textures. You really have a nice garden. Blessings to your family! David/ Tropical Texana/ Houston
oh hey, just found you. Coincidence, too, because 3 yr old granddaughter and I "planted" garden this evening, October 21. I planted radishes as the warm weather has been holding in Iowa and I have a protected/sheltered garden. I gave her the old package of cilantro when she asked to plantseeds. "This is so fun", she said. more than once. And scattered the seed, stirred the soil and watered. I'll be back!
Does it get any better than THIS??? My favorites? The one where he's carrying the 3 potatoes on his shovel and the other where he's lying down in the dirt....
BTW - I've really enjoyed fixing our sweet potatoes (scrubbed and cut up) in the crock pot with a little chicken broth or bouillon in the pot. I'll often add pieces of link sausage or maybe a bell pepper, too. The potatoes get SO tender.
