Larry just got the stones yesterday to cover the dirt from where Heidi has worn a path in the grass. The yellow flowers are the repeat blooming daylilies from a friend. I love them, and our grandson, who is also in the photo.
(This was supposed to be the first photo, but I realized I had forgotten the one of Grandson.) Dame's Rocket with the first ladybug I've seen this spring:
Our son and his son having fun by the flowers:
This is a false indigo, or baptisia, and may be a dwarf one, or else one that got planted by critters:
The amsonia and baptisia are in full bloom, and I saw the name of the yellow flowered herb, but it's not coming to my brain. The silverish leafed plant is a shell leaf penstemon. Globe thistle is on the right.
Daisy from front bed:
Row of irises in back, in front of veggie garden:
This may be the same as I posted for bloom day, in different light, but there are some a little different down the row, with some yellow on the bottom of the flower, and I can't tell now which these are:
These were loaded, and are almost finished, but it seems like last year, there was a second flush of blooms.
I don't remember if this 2 colored iris has bloomed before. It sure is pretty, and Heidi is deciding what she thinks of the extra stones Larry put there.
What a great way to end the day! It got dark shortly after the pics were taken.
Sue~~ Your grandson is such a cutie. I love the maroon iris. Everything looks lovely.
ReplyDeleteYou have the right idea: less grass, more garden! Your daylilies are nice. In my previous condo (six-flat), we planted daylilies that were a disaster. What I would have given to have your luck. Cheers! [p.s.: looks like your grandson is ready to be promoted to jr. gardener;-)]
ReplyDeleteYour grandson is soo sweet and cute! Oh, I love all your Irises - I loved them first when I saw it over at Jan's (Always Growing) and Jamie and Randy's (Creating our Eden). They're too beautiful - they remind me of my hibiscuses.
ReplyDeleteThat shot of the ladybug is great!
Hey Susan ! Your cutie pie grandson may just become a gardener after seeing his grandma's beautiful garden all the time : )
ReplyDeleteWow on the iris .. that maroon ? one is fabulous .. I love the picture of the first ladybug on the flower .. perfect !
You've got a lot more in bloom than I do. I need to start taking notes of mid/late spring blooming plants. And I really need to get my hands on some amsonia. Looks great.
ReplyDeleteWonderful garden photos! The blooms are just lovely. Your son and grandson look like Pete and repeat, LOL. Cute.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful walk in the yard! Some cute fellas you got there! Your irises are so pretty. I should move an amsonia closer to my baptisia as I like your combo.
ReplyDeleteCameron
everything looks great...love the watcher of the yard....your grandson is so cute
ReplyDeleteHi Sue! Isn't it just a joy to watch everything fill in and come to life? It's so amazing to me. Your little grandson is adorable
ReplyDelete:-) I know you must just love having him around! Your garden is looking just great Sue;-)
Great pictures! I see your grandson has the broom with him :)
ReplyDeleteOoo, love the 2-tone iris. And the yellow daylilies. Your grandson is very cute.
ReplyDelete'Spooky' is a good name for the fringed Dianthus that you also have in your garden. I hope it is perennial here. I like it a lot.
What a cutie your grandson is! I see gardening in his future, I like those irises they're very pretty!
ReplyDeleteLovely photos! I can't decide which I like the best--the ladybug, that cute little bug of a grandson, or Heidi! You are doing what we hope to do someday--lay a stone walkway where the dogs have a path made. Nice!
ReplyDeleteHi Sue, I am glad you popped over to see me! I love visiting~~Your amsonia and baptisia are superb...I think they love sunshine and you have it for them...and probably really nice healthy midwest soil! Sigh! The garden looks wonderful. It makes me smile to see your two boys playing in the grass! Not sure how our weather has been switched but summer is back in the south! Have a good week....gail
ReplyDeleteBeautiful irises and a cute toddler! What more could you want in the garden?
ReplyDeleteI enjoy all your comments, and am thankful you mention how you like my family pics. Yes, Grandson still lugs that broom around.
ReplyDeleteThe iris looks black as a bud, then looks dark brown/maroonish.
Sue, I am really behind reading your blog, you have really been busy & it is paying off, everything is so lovely.
ReplyDeletePrayers, Bo
