Saturday, 11/29, my husband and I went to Omaha, an hour away, to buy a lap top computer for me. My other one was a hand me down from my father, and very slow. We didn't get any pics of me buying my new "baby", but on the way home, I remembered I had the camera with me, and took some snaps out the window of our vehicle. It was late afternoon as we were heading back west. I had to delete most of them, but kept a few for today's Skywatch.
Click on the Skywatch button on the left to get to a list of skies to view all over the world.
I like the impressionistic effect in the first one. This is a great tour of the skies and sights of your world.
ReplyDeleteVery nice, thanks for sharing these.
ReplyDeleteCheers!

Thanks Wren and Guy. I went and left comments on yours, too!
ReplyDeleteSue, congratulations on the new computer! I know you will really enjoy it. They change so fast anymore-it's amazing what they can do now.
ReplyDeleteI ought to join in SkyWatch, but all we see here this time of the year is gray, gray and more gray! Well, once in a while we get a little sun.
I love seeing the elevators-looks just like here!
Ah! Impressive ones and congrats on your laptop!
ReplyDeleteyeah, congrats on the lap top, I want one of those. Is that the color of the sky before it snows?
ReplyDeleteHi Sue, wanted to stop by and thank you for visiting my blog and leaving a message. Tracy DiSabato-Aust's book is often mentioned on other garden forums. Her experience is a big help to most gardeners.
ReplyDeleteI like your first skywatch photo. It really conveys the motion as you drive thru the countryside.

I am so happy with my new MacBook. I had resisted switching from a PC since my career was based on PCs! What computer did you get?
ReplyDeleteCameron
To someone from Europe these seem like iconic American images. Are these grain elevators? They remind me of the paintings of Charles Sheeler.
ReplyDeleteThanks for linking to my blog! I'm enjoying yours.
Those silos are gigantic!
ReplyDeleteIt seems an agricultural region.
I love the first one, imperfection always attracts the attention. In fact, you shares your real vision from the car window. Great.
We always need a new lap top. And it's always the good time to change. Sue , we don't need pictures of you, choosing the new laptop, we need pictures made by you ; )
Have a nice week-end "domisticating" your new computer!
Those pictures sure do represent Nebraska in my mind, having never been though I can't say where I got this idea from. Great on the new computer!
ReplyDeleteSue: I liked the silo shot the best, nice captures of your area.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the new laptop! I have a request in to Santa for a lovely purple Dell laptop. Hopefully, he'll listen and it'll be waiting Christmas morning.
ReplyDeleteNice shots, too!
Thank you for sharing your fun photos with us. I just love seeing photos from everywhere else. Have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteSounds like you had a successful computer shopping trip :) I'm getting a laptop too. The computer I'm using is almost 13 years old and I won't be able to get downstairs for a long time to use it after my knee surgery this month.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the comments everyone!
ReplyDeleteI am enjoying my new computer, but the reach for the keyboard is an adjustment. It's a 15 inch MacBook Pro. My husband knows a lot about Mac computers, and he helped me pick it out. I got a discount because I work at a school.
It was trying to snow that day, but I'm thinking it was about finished when we were driving home.
We actually live in Lincoln, the capitol city of Nebraska, which in the census of 2000 had 225,581 people. I had to look up the difference between a silo and a grain elevator, and still couldn't tell. I think a silo is used to store things like grain, and a grain elevator is where farmers can bring their products and then they get stored in silos. If anyone reading this knows the difference, please enlighten me. There really are not very many large cities in our state, and there are a lot of farms and ranches.
The last photo was of a Purina plant or storage place of some kind. I sure don't know much about the countryside around me! I'll have to get pics of the wind turbines some time if I can get close enough.
I plan on taking pictures of buildings and whatever I find in Lincoln soon.
I looked up Charles Sheeler. He sure was a busy and talented guy!
New computer? Wow!
ReplyDeleteThese are beautiful shots of your place and I feel like driving along too. :)
Thank you Sue for the lovely comments on my posts!
I love the first photo, great movement.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your new laptop Sue. I like the first photo you took from the car window, it has a lovely blurry effect. :)
ReplyDeleteHi again Sue - those photography books you mentioned might still be useful. They won't help you use your digital camera, but any writing about good photo composition, use of light etc. will still be applicable and useful today.
ReplyDeleteYay! Roadtrip! Glad you got a new computer - makes skywatch reporting THAT MUCH MORE FUN, right!?? Happy SWF. (www.reluctantfarmchik.com)
ReplyDeleteI really like the first one and the third one too. Great effects.
ReplyDeleteInteresting SW - the moving one is a brave one.
ReplyDeleteI am not taking part in SW any more, I find it too crowded.
Thanks for all you kind comments.
