Reflections on Blogging, Relationships, World Relations

I started garden blogging this fall, then added a Christian blog not really knowing who I was addressing, whether it was myself or others.  I do not consider myself a writer, but love to talk, and I think that this is a way of communicating with others.  Through my writing, and seeing the personalities of others expressed through their blogs, I have realized that, as with people "in the flesh" we get to know a few well, and develop a larger group of acquaintances.

The big opportunity we have in blogging is getting to know people who live very far away from us.  We all have differences in things we believe and value, but that doesn't mean we can't enjoy something about each other.  It doesn't mean we can't determine to be at peace with each other.

The last few days I have been more intentional in visiting blogs from other countries who participate in the "memes" I do.  I sometimes have trouble keeping up with everything, but we'll see what happens.  Anyway, the reason for this post was to say why I put up the translation widget I discovered on someone's blog.

Peace,
Sue

  1. I have enjoyed your blog, mainly because of the conversational tone of the writing. I'm sure you write like you talk. I like to explore other blogs as well. I probably spend way too much time on the computer, but it's fascinating.

  2. I considered having two blogs or even three to separate my various interests but then decided I was me and these are all the things that make me me!
I would like to post some poems and am not sure how to go about that one.
    Thinking, praying..
    Nice to visit you.

  3. Bonjour Sue,
I have had the same way of thinking. I realised I had many common point with American bloggers. That's the reason why I wrote my blog at the time in bad-english and french. (My so few French readers are mainly my friends in life).
I can install as well a translator widget, but, by experience, I've realized that they provide mistakes sometimes in the meaning of ideas. I understand perfectly your blog. Hope you understand my broken english comment, and my blog as well.
I would like to keep you in my bloggers friends, I appreciated so much that you had a nice thought for Mumbai victims. (I'm so sad for this family).
Have a nice family week end, regardless.

  4. Translaters are not perfect but you'll get the idea of what someone wishes to share. And most times they can understand english but don't write their blog in english so you HAVE to use a translater.

    Anyway...
"Here's a meme that you may want to participate in. Take a look. The title is "Summer 2008 Inspiration". If you want just visit me or Shady for details.
It's all about having fun !!

  7. I enjoy blogging and "meeting" other gardeners through blogging. I like to my "blog rounds" to visit others in the mornings, but I'm finding mornings are becoming pretty hectic...but, I'd feel really "late" to visit in the evenings!

  9. Hi Everyone! I read your comments while waiting for my new computer to have memory added at the Apple Store near the city I live in.

Thanks for the words of encouragement! I am not surprised to hear the translator is not perfect. I do actually enjoy reading the words chosen by non-English speakers, and understand what they are saying.

  10. Hi Sue,
It's funny...but I just now realized that you only recently joined Blotanical...a little bit before I did! We had 'conversed' earlier, and I thought you were one of the "old pro's"! ("Old" NOT implying age!!)
Anyway...I used to have 3 blogs, and after my 2 got accidentally deleted, I decided to convert my third one into 'all 3'. I'm still trying to figure out how to combine everything into one blog without destroying it! Also, I am still trying to figure out how Blotanical works! I don't think I have it down, yet. It takes a bit of concentration to absorb the fine details, and I haven't seemed to have a lot of free time for that.
    Take care! Jan

  11. Hi Jan! I haven't been on the computer as much the last couple of days. I feel out of touch. LOL I just checked your blog to see if I've been there lately, and I'm glad I did! I love your latest photo! I am sorry your other blogs got deleted.

  13. Sue, you are a dear soul, I can tell by your style of writing and the thoughts you share. Blogging has opened up a whole new world for me as far as gardening goes. it has been very fun to get to "know" so many gardeners world wide. You are right. We don't have to think exactly alike to find some common ground.
