It hasn't been up and running very long and I am still learning the tricks. Someday I hope to have it be as nice as yours. Any suggestions you may have would be welcome.Troy @ I-Refuse-To-Recedehttp://i-refuse-to-recede.blogspot.com/noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8333330062798605073.post-32308963570865650992009-06-08T21:25:02.759-05:002009-06-08T21:25:02.759-05:00Sue: I cut the chives as soon as they start to hea...Sue: I cut the chives as soon as they start to head, that way you always have fresh growth. This Is My Blog - fishing guyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03826128050970967135noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8333330062798605073.post-50621059488154455912009-06-08T09:13:20.948-05:002009-06-08T09:13:20.948-05:00Have never grown chives, looks like something I wo...Have never grown chives, looks like something I would love to have! Life is good! I also use them on almost all my pasta dishes. Oddly enough just yesterday I cut mine back since they were looking fairly tattered and worn.

The garlic chives aren't invasive for me but I have to be almost anal about deadheading or...God forbid...I can't think about it...LOL. Butterfly bush is banned for being invasive but chives--methinks they're going unnoticed. Left to nature, they'd easily take over the planet, I'm sure of it. But they are tasty aren't they?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8333330062798605073.post-43776362219972128042009-06-07T12:27:22.173-05:002009-06-07T12:27:22.173-05:00I think chives are great even if just for the flow...I think chives are great even if just for the flowers. We've had the same chive plant for many years. My daughter and her friends munch on them when they play outside. I like the flower idea for omelettes that Cameron suggested.Catherine@AGardenerinProgresshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05001060769253273283noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8333330062798605073.post-27508472310863265812009-06-07T12:09:25.004-05:002009-06-07T12:09:25.004-05:00Hi Sue,

I didn't do it last season, and they grow everywhere in my kitchen garden now. The picture of blooms is stunning when enlarged! The rain garden isn't a boggy place, it is a place that drains slowly after a hard rain.

CameronF Cameronhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14558874651743241988noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8333330062798605073.post-17040841427788132412009-06-07T01:28:44.691-05:002009-06-07T01:28:44.691-05:00Linderhof is on the prairie of SE Kansas -- I grow...Linderhof is on the prairie of SE Kansas -- I grow chives as well -- we use the flowers in salads and it makes a wonderful oniony pink vinegar (if you steep the blossoms in vinegar).
